Set in the heart of Northumberland, the film delves into the life of Liam Frater. After a distinguished military career, Liam embarked on a challenging path of readjusting to civilian life, whilst overcoming some of his own personal battles.

Drawing from his military experience, Liam employs a thought-provoking analogy he once encountered during his service—a metaphorical “bucket” that captures the essence of how managing your own mental health can often become too much, and how his love of the outdoors has become his coping mechanism ever since.

Going off-grid

“Waking up in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by nature is what draws me to going off-grid. The idea of being able to just put a pack on my back, going back to basics, and heading out into the wilderness for a couple of days is how I’ve learnt to manage my own mental health. It’s always been my healing space.”
