When there’s a break in rain in this part of the world you have to take advantage. So we headed up to Holy Island to roam around this wonderful place – a tidal island off Northumberland’s coast that becomes inaccessible when the tide covers over its causeway.

A trip across the causeway.

Cut off from the mainland, the magic of the Holy Island of Lindisfarne is beyond words. As you cross the causeway, you’ll see stunning views and feel like you’re entering a secret place as you get closer to the island. But be warned, don’t get caught out by the North Sea tide which covers the causeway twice a day.
